- The World Resources Institute (WRI) is a global research non-profit organization that was established in 1982 to address the forcefully emerged Environmental concerns in the 1970s which are deforestation, desertification, and climate change.
- It focusses on seven urgent global challenges: i) Climate, ii) Energy, iii) Food, iv) Forests, v) Water, vi) Sustainable Cities and vii) Ocean.

India Greenhouse Gas Program: It is an industry-led voluntary framework aiming to help Indian companies monitor progress towards management of GHG emissions.
Green Power Market Development Group (GPMDG): Launched in 2013 as a partnership between WRI India, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation and the Confederation of Indian Industry addresses the barriers that impede the growth of the renewable energy sector in India.
Empanelled as a national training institution for urban planning by the Ministry of Urban Development, WRI India has been leading capacity building initiatives under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) programme in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
